The Elouise Rice Robinson Memorial Scholarship was started in 2006 by her children: Hazel L Robinson, Debra E. Robinson-Sanders, Derriel S. Robinson, and Regina L. Robinson-Smith. The Elouise Rice Robinson Foundation has awarded scholarships to African-American graduating seniors from high schools in Florida, Maryland, the District of Columbia, Virginia, and Pennsylvania. The Scholarship is to pay tribute to their mother, whom they loved dearly. She instilled in her children the values of scholarship, leadership, community activism, the spirit of entrepreneurship, and the love of creative arts.
The scholarship awards originated in Plant City, Florida at Plant City High School, the alma mater of the Robinson children. Each year, at the Plant City High School Awards program, her children would honor how very special their mother was and share with those who would never know her that her legacy lives on through them.
The scholarship is presented to African American Students to help defray the cost of higher education. The criteria for scholarship awards are for graduating seniors, who are college-bound and are career and community-focused. The mission of the Elouise Rice Robinson Foundation is to develop and support the advancement of minority students for post-secondary educational programs.
We honor you for using the talents God gave you to mentor neighborhood children and to teach in the public schools of Hillsborough County, Florida. You gave so much to others, and we continue your legacy of giving through this scholarship program.
Love, Hazel, Debra Derriel, and Regina
